MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Dry, and windy conditions allowed for fire weather conditions to become dangerous. We had several fires pop up across the area. The biggest was in the Carolina Forest Community near Highway 501 and Postal Way. The fire reached 30 acres, but is now contained. We will see fire conditions subside as clouds move in ahead of a rainy Sunday.
Scattered showers will begin to move into the area by Sunday morning. We will not see a lot of rain across the area on Sunday into Sunday night. Between 1/4″ – 3/4″ of rain will be possible across the Grand Strand, Pee Dee and border belt. This by no means will bring us out of our drought conditions, but will at least wet the surface. It is possible a rumble of thunder could be possible as well Sunday afternoon into early evening. Showers will start to end across the area after Midnight into early Monday morning.
As we get into Monday through Thursday we will see partly cloudy skies across the area. Temperatures will warm into the low to upper 60s across the Grand Strand. As you head inland, temperatures will jump into the 70s. A nice taste of spring will be greeting us…
