SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A cold front is heading our way today and tonight, bringing gusty winds this afternoon and a line of storms that will move through the Suncoast in the middle of the night. Winds pick up during the morning, gusting out of the south and southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph as the front approaches. The strong winds will blow things around, so secure any loose outdoor items like trash cans or patio furniture.
Tonight: A line of showers and thunderstorms will push into the Suncoast. Our main timeframe for storms is 9 PM to 2 AM. Some storms could pack strong winds, so keep an eye on the forecast and have a way to get weather alerts.
Outdoor Sports Forecast Saturday
Wind will be a challenge at the Tennis, Pickleball, and Golf courts and courses. Winds will become gusty out of the south during the day. Rain chances Sunday are near Zero in the daylight hours, increasing in the middle of the night.
Beach Forecast
Beach conditions will change Sunday as the day progresses. Rip currents will be strong today and tonight, so it’s a good idea to stay out of the water. Water levels could rise about 2 feet above normal due to the gusty winds pushing water toward shore, and we could see some rough surf. Winds will shift to the southeast at 10 to 20 mph in the morning, becoming south at 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Rain chances are low during the daytime hours, with rain and thunderstorms developing overnight.
