CORTINA, Italy — WHO 13’s Justin Surrency is covering the Winter Olympics in Italy and takes a break from reporting on Team USA to report on Team Iowa, specifically West Des Moines native Zach Stoppelmoor.
Zach Stoppelmoor qualified for the winter Olympics on January 5, winning the US speed skating trials in the 500M. Stoppelmoor qualified with the fastest time, 34.66 seconds. The 26-year-old is the first Iowan to represent Team USA in the Olympics for speed skating.
