“Stranger Things” Star Maya Hawke Ties the Knot with Musician Christian Lee Hutson in NYC Ceremony

Love was undeniably in the air this past Valentine’s Day weekend as “Stranger Things” fan-favorite Maya Hawke exchanged vows with acclaimed musician Christian Lee Hutson on Saturday. The couple, who have collaborated musically for years, made it official at St. George’s Episcopal Church in New York City.

The star-studded guest list for the nuptials included Hawke’s famous parents, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, alongside a notable contingent of her “Stranger Things” co-stars. Among those celebrating were Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, and Natalie Dyer, as reported by People magazine.

Hawke, 27, and Hutson, 35, have been linked for some time, with their first public sighting dating back to 2023. Their professional partnership, however, predates their romantic one.

Hutson contributed to Hawke’s 2022 sophomore album, “Moss,” and Hawke, in turn, is featured on Hutson’s latest release, “Paradise Pop. 10.”

Delving into Christian Lee Hutson’s Musical Journey

Hutson, a Kansas City, Missouri native raised in Los Angeles since the age of five, began his musical journey early, picking up the guitar at 12. His influences range from country icon Hank Williams to indie-folk pioneer Elliott Smith. In the early 2010s, while a student at the California Institute of the Arts, he honed a country-folk sound as part of The Driftwood Singers.

After two solo albums that garnered limited attention, Hutson’s career trajectory shifted dramatically in 2018 when he began working with Grammy-winning artist Phoebe Bridgers. Bridgers has since produced and collaborated on his major albums, including 2020’s “Beginners,” 2022’s “Quitters,” and the recently released “Paradise Pop. 10,” which features his now-wife, Maya Hawke.

How the Musical Duo Met and Fell in Love

While their first public appearance as a couple was in December 2023, Hawke and Hutson’s musical connection dates back years. Hutson played a significant role in Hawke’s 2022 album, “Moss.” In a 2021 interview with Margaret Qualley for Interview Magazine, Hawke spoke about their creative process, stating, “And I sent him some poems, and he sent me back some unbelievable songs.”

Their collaborations have continued, extending to Hawke’s 2024 album “Chaos Angel” and Hutson’s “Paradise Pop. 10,” with the pair also performing live together. The couple made their red carpet debut in April 2025 at the opening night of “John Proctor Is the Villain,” a play starring Hawke’s “Stranger Things” castmate, Sadie Sink. Just a week later, speculation of an engagement arose when Hawke was photographed wearing what appeared to be a ring on her left hand, as reported by People.
