Coast Guard rescues man after sailboat runs aground near Winyah Bay

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a man and his dog Friday evening after their sailboat ran aground on rocks near Winyah Bay.

The MH-65 Dolphin crew, based out of Air Facility Charleston, hoisted the pair from the 37-foot sailing vessel, Chusan, after the man radioed for help around 6:16 p.m.

The man and his dog were taken to Georgetown Airport. No injuries were reported…
