SAN DIEGO — A free online newspaper devoted entirely to positive news stories launched in San Diego on Nov. 13, World Kindness Day, spotlighting individuals and businesses spreading kindness throughout the community.
‘Kindness Happens Here’ was created by Leigh Fenly, a veteran journalist with a 30-year career at the San Diego Union-Tribune. The publication is written, edited and designed entirely by volunteer professional journalists, photographers, illustrators, editors and designers who receive no payment for their work.
The inspiration struck when Fenly, who thought she was retired, visited VIP Cleaners in the Morena District and saw a sign offering free garment cleaning for unemployed people preparing for job interviews…
