Monroe mother charged after toddler’s death; records describe extreme heat inside home

MONROE, Mich. — A Monroe mother is now facing felony charges months after her 20-month-old son was found dead inside their home in December.

Coralan Kaye-Elizabeth Peters, 36, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse, according to court records filed in Monroe’s 1st District Court. She was arraigned Feb. 3, when a judge set bond at $750,000 cash or surety. Court records show Peters was arrested Feb. 2 after a felony warrant was issued in Monroe County.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 19, followed by a preliminary examination set for Feb. 24. The case remains open…
