AFD responds to a South Amarillo building fire on Sunday

RANDALL COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Fire Department released information about a late afternoon commercial building fire that happened in South Amarillo on Sunday.

According to AFD, at around 7:08 p.m. on Feb. 15, the first alarm sounded, and crews arrived at 8111 South Soncy about four minutes later. On arrival, AFD said crews were met with heavy smoke in a large commercial building.

Amarillo Police investigating Saturday night shooting in north Amarillo

Officials said after crews attempted an interior attack, they were forced to back out due to high heat. AFD stated that at 7:50 p.m., crews were able to gain access and put the fire out from the inside. AFD said Randall County Fire had joined the firefight due to the location.

Amarillo Fire added that there were no injuries on scene, and more information will be released when available…
