BMW Driver Arrested After Overnight Crash into Eugene Storefront

Eugene police arrested a 28-year-old man for DUII and reckless driving after his BMW flipped and crashed into a Valley River Drive storefront.

Eugene, OR. — A 28-year-old Eugene man was arrested early Feb. 15 after his BMW crashed and flipped onto its roof outside a Sleep Number store on Valley River Drive.

At approximately 12:48 a.m., callers reported a BMW M4 had crashed in front of the Sleep Number store at 1125 Valley River Drive. Officers arrived to find the vehicle overturned and resting on its roof in the parking lot.

Police identified the driver as John Michael Squires Daugherty. According to officers, Squires Daugherty said he lost control after a Subaru pulled up beside him and he accelerated in an attempt to race it…
