LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An 80-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run crash in the east Las Vegas valley Sunday evening, according to Metro police.
On Sunday, Feb. 15, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Metro police responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and an 80-year-old man on a mobility scooter in the area of Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards.
Evidence and witness statements at the scene show the man on the scooter was crossing Lake Mead outside of a marked or implied crosswalk west of the intersection with Lamb while a Mercury Mariner SUV was traveling west on East Lake Mead.
The collision happened when the front end of the SUV hit the right side of the man on the scooter, projecting him onto the road while the scooter became lodged under the SUV…
