COLUMBIANA – Ryan Darrell Holland, age 37, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 14, in Columbiana that led to a police officer being injured.
Holland was arrested by the Columbiana Police Department and booked into the Shelby County Jail on Sunday, Feb. 15, on the following charges:
- Two counts of Aggravated assault – No bond
- Discharging a firearm into an occupied building – $60,000 bond
On Saturday, Feb. 14, members of the Columbiana Police Department arrived at the Columbiana Villas off of Highway 25 to perform a wellness check on a “possible victim,” according to Chief of Police Jeff Bowers. The victim began to shoot a firearm at the officers during the wellness check, leading them to return fire.
“One officer was struck with just minor injuries and taken to the hospital,” Bowers said. “He has since been released and gone home. The other officer is fine.”…
