Vehicle Strikes Valet at Anthony’s Runway 84 in Fort Lauderdale, Causes Gas Leak; No Injuries Reported

Early this morning, a vehicle plowed into the valet stand of Anthony’s Runway 84, a frequented Italian eatery in Fort Lauderdale, resulting in a ruptured gas line. As reported by Local 10, the incident occurred near 8 a.m. at the restaurant’s address, 330 W. State Road 84. The driver, upon recognizing the hazard, quickly dialed 911, alerting authorities to the smell of gas in the aftermath.

The vehicle not only damaged the valet infrastructure but also severed the building’s gas line. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said, the driver called 911 after crashing outside the Italian restaurant and said he smelled gas. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue’s hazmat team rushed to join the first responders to control the emergency, managing to cap the leak after approximately 40 minutes, as NBC Miami stated.

Fortuitously, the building itself escaped unscathed and, more importantly, no individuals were harmed during the event.
