RCSD: Woman says she was punched after being called a racial slur at Columbia area Sam’s Club

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities believe a racial slur at a Columbia-area store appears to have escalated into a fight and assault. Now, Richland County deputies are investigating.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the incident reportedly happened at the Sam’s Club at 733 Fashion Drive on Saturday around 1:30 p.m.

The victim told deputies that she was waiting in line at the store when another woman used a racial slur directed toward her, and an argument followed. The victim said she attempted to take a picture of the person who used the slur, but the suspect allegedly responded by punching her in the face…
