An Allen Park man who stabbed his grandmother to death in 2025 will spend decades in prison after a Wayne County judge handed down a lengthy sentence this week.
Ian Andrew Sharpe, 31, was sentenced last Monday to 30 to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his 84-year-old grandmother, Patricia Anderson. He entered the plea on Jan. 15, according to CBS Detroit, which also reported that the punishment was formally imposed this week in Wayne County court.
Investigation and timeline
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, the attack happened the evening of April 16, 2025, at a home on the 10000 block of Allen Pointe Drive in Allen Park. Prosecutors say Sharpe stabbed Anderson multiple times, then moved her body to a field in Detroit, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
Investigators searched the residence and used the location of Sharpe’s cell phone to track him down. Officers arrested him on April 17, and two days later, on April 19, Anderson’s body was recovered in a field near Tillman Street in Detroit.
Charges and plea
