After last week’s icy weather left sidewalks, parking lots and roadways coated in ice, students returning to campus said they encountered hazardous conditions that made getting to class a challenge. Despite the weather, the college remained open for in-person classes on Thursday, prompting mixed reactions from students—some relieved to return, others frustrated and concerned for their safety.
Swapnika Boyapati, a student who commutes to campus, described widespread ice covering the main walking paths.
“There was pretty much ice everywhere on the paths and the curb to actually cross onto the pathways,” Boyapati said. “Many pathways that I used to walk to class were fully covered in ice—you couldn’t really walk on them.”…
