Tennessee man accused of dragging officer in Kentucky

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The U.S. Marshals Service says a Tennessee man wanted in connection with a violent assault on a police officer is now in custody following a fugitive investigation in Bell County.

According to officials, 24-year-old John Brandon Gray was arrested without incident Friday morning on Mason Hill Road in Pineville during a joint operation involving multiple federal, Kentucky, and Tennessee law enforcement agencies.

Authorities say Gray was wanted by the Barbourville Police Department on several charges, including second-degree assault of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, and multiple counts of wanton endangerment.

Incident tied to officer injury

Investigators say the charges stem from a traffic stop in which a Barbourville officer was allegedly dragged by a vehicle. Officials say the officer was treated for injuries and is expected to make a full recovery…
