South Carolina bill to slash boat property taxes makes successful headway through senate

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — South Carolina boat owners are a few steps closer to possibly seeing some relief on their annual property tax bill.

State leaders are hard at work after the bill passed the house last year and hopeful it makes it through the senate soon.

For boat owners in Horry and Georgetown counties, the boat property tax is 10.5% and have separate titles for the motor and boat. But a bill headed to a senate committee Tuesday afternoon would reduce those taxes down to 6% and combine it into one title…
