New York State Police shot a man in Upstate New York on Monday after he displayed what appeared to be a handgun during a confrontation with troopers.
The incident occurred at about 12:42 p.m. on Monday when state troopers from SP Ellenville responded to a report of a male subject holding a handgun while walking southbound on Queens Highway toward State Route 209 in the town of Rochester (Ulster County).
When troopers arrived, they found an individual matching the description provided to Ulster County 911. Troopers issued multiple commands for the subject to show his hands, but the individual refused to comply and displayed what appeared to be a handgun.
