‘Operation Purrescue’: Tybee Island Fire Rescue crews rescue cat from palm tree

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) – Firefighters rescued a cat that had been stuck in a palm tree on 14th Street for more than eight hours Wednesday afternoon.

Tybee Island Fire Rescue said at around 4:45 p.m. last Wednesday, a truck went to the area of 14th Street for a report of a cat that had been stuck in a palm tree since 8:00 a.m. that morning.

“That’s a long shift… especially for a cat,” said Tybee Island Fire Rescue. “Upon arrival, crews positioned the truck and raised the aerial for a high-angle feline rescue. As firefighters made their first attempts, the cat demonstrated impressive agility by relocating to the opposite side of the tree… multiple times.”…
