Amarillo gas prices fall 0.4 cents, average $2.32/gallon on Monday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Gas prices in the Amarillo area fell 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week to average at $2.32/gallon, according to the most recent report from GasBuddy. Those prices were noted as 8.8 cents higher than a month ago and 28.5 cents lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Amarillo was priced at $2.14/gallon on Sunday while the most expensive was $2.99/gallon, a difference of 85 cents. The lowest price in Texas on Sunday was $1.86/gallon while the highest was $4.08/gallon, a difference of $2.22.

Nationally, the average price of gas rose 2.6 cents per gallon in the last week to reach an average of $2.87/gallon on Monday. That national average was up 4.9 cents from a month ago and 24.5 cents lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel increased 1.0 cents from last week, standing at around $3.62/gallon.

Gas prices in neighboring areas included:

  • Lubbock- $2.28/gallon, up 1.1 cents from last week’s $2.26/gallon.
  • Midland Odessa- $2.55/gallon, up 9.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.46/gallon.
  • Oklahoma- $2.25/gallon, down 1.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.26/gallon

“The national average price of gasoline continues to grind higher, and while the pace of increases remains modest for now, upward momentum could accelerate in the coming weeks as refinery maintenance intensifies and the broader transition to summer gasoline begins,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “However, supply-side dynamics could temper that seasonal pressure. If OPEC+ proceeds with resuming production increases following its first-quarter pause, additional barrels could cap crude oil’s upside and limit the magnitude of the spring rally at the pump. That said, geopolitical tensions—particularly between the U.S. and Iran—remain an unpredictable variable, injecting risk into the outlook and leaving prices vulnerable to sudden shifts.”…
