A University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student died earlier this month while skiing at Granite Peak, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to WAOW-TV, the crash was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the ski resort, 227200 Snowbird Ave. Wausau. When rescue crews arrived on scene they discovered Alexandria J. Blattner, of Neenah, unconscious and without a pulse. Lifesaving efforts were not successful and Blattner was pronounced dead a short time later by the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators say Blattner likely struck a tree on the hill. Her death is the second fatality on Granite Peak this season…
