Madison dog park remains closed after dog passes away

MADISON, Wis. — The dog park at Warner Park has remained closed since a nearly 8-year-old dog became ill and passed away after visiting the park over the weekend, Madison Parks said in a statement on Monday.

Staff were made aware of the dog that returned home following a visit to the Warner Park off-leash dog park. The dog fell ill and suddenly died. Park rangers made contact upon receiving the news, immediately leaving messages with the UW vet clinic and Public Health Madison and Dane County.

“We have received a number of phone calls and emails from concerned residents alerting us of the incident. We share your concerns and please know we are working with other local agencies and meeting internally to determine our next steps,” said Madison Parks.
