The Soil Project shares Freeport Black history

Highland Community College’s Clarence Mitchell Library will host “The Soil Project: Stories rooted in Freeport’s Black history,” to celebrate Black History Month.

The event is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 24, 2026, at the library, according to a community announcement.

Documentarian Danairo Thomas will present information about The Soil Project, a documentary storytelling initiative dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the history of Black pioneers in Freeport.
