SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The unexplained death of Shirley Jane Rose happened more than 50 years ago in Springfield.
Rose vanished on Oct. 17, 1975, while walking from her grandmother’s house at 865 S. West Avenue to her home at 1309 S. Scenic Avenue, investigators said. Nearly two months later, on Dec. 13, 1975, two trappers found Rose’s body in a shallow grave near McDaniel Lake, investigators said.
Family maintains hope for answers
Rose’s family continues to seek answers about what happened to the girl. Springfield Police recently announced the expansion of its cold case unit. The department aims to provide a fresh examination of multiple cases, including Rose’s.
