NMEDD identifies sites set for economic development

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico has found its first five locations for strategic economic development. The sites were selected through the Economic Development Department’s Site Readiness Program.

First, the largest site is a 2,500-acre plot west of Gallup, identified for energy and transportation. Then, a 300-acre site, just west of Las Cruces near White Sands Missile Range, is scouted for manufacturing and industry.

They also selected another 177 acres near Santa Teresa for phase two of its rail park, located near the U.S.-Mexico Border. The fourth site is 35 acres in the Santa Ana Pueblo, with plans for general business expansion.

Finally, 40 acres in the Rio Rancho City Center for mixed-use and commercial development. These were the first five sites chosen out of 47 locations statewide. The next steps include a funding review and final approval for development by the EDD…
