18 year old accused of driving drunk and crashing into Albuquerque city bus

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico teen is facing charges after police say she was driving drunk and caused a crash with an Albuquerque city bus. According to a criminal complaint, 18-year-old Savanna Tafoya made an illegal U-turn on Central Ave. and 63rd St. when she was hit by the bus on Saturday. Police said Tafoya fled the scene, claiming the bus driver told her to.

They said Tafoya smelled of alcohol and was arrested. She is facing several charges, including DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.

Monday night, a City of Albuquerque spokesperson responded to a KRQE News 13 inquiry saying that the bus driver followed protocol. They said the bus driver did not speak to Tafoya. They also said the one passenger on the bus was not injured…
