Olympians with Utah-ties earn seven medals after first week of 2026 Winter Games

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games passed the halfway point over the weekend, and several athletes with Utah ties have made it onto the podium.

These Utah-tied athletes, who either live in, attended school in, or are native to Utah, have earned one gold, four silver, and two bronze medals for a total of seven.

Gold Medal Win

It was Breezy Johnson who won the first medal for Team USA, claiming the gold in the Women’s Downhill. Johnson, an alumnus of Salt Lake City’s Rowmark Ski Academy, posted a time of 1:36.10 – just .04 seconds faster than silver medalist Emma Aicher of Germany.

Johnson’s run started slower than her competitors but she claimed first by the finish line.
