Lawsuits claim Canton police K-9s used as weapons

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) – Using police K9s as weapons to attack those who pose no immediate threat is essentially the claim in three lawsuits filed against Canton Police Department.

Police body-worn camera video shows a somewhat chaotic scene on May 30, 2024, when officers encounter Kievin Conver outside of his house.

Conver was said to have been yelling profanities about police activity in his neighborhood when two officers approach him, tackle him to the ground with Convers hands crossed behind him in what his attorneys call a “show of surrender.”
