LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — In honor of Fat Tuesday, five United Methodist churches in the Mid-Michigan area will be offering free fuel for members of the community — while supplies last.
“We’re doing this on Fat Tuesday to practice generosity before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday,” wrote Mark A. Doyal, spokesperson for the Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church, in a statement to 6 News. “We see Fat Tuesday as an opportunity to celebrate God’s abundance by sharing with our neighbors.
In a statement to 6 News, Doyal said church members will be buying gas for any drivers who come through at these gas stations at the following times:
- Marathon Gas –1198 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing — 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Frank’s Party Store — 117 Lansing Rd, Potterville — 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Quality Dairy — 2100 N Larch St, Lansing — 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Marathon Gas — 1000 E Mt Hope Ave — 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Mobil USA To Go — 4495 Holt Rd — 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
