ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — A new roundabout is set to open in Blount County this week, permanently shifting traffic near McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation annouced that the new roundabout on Cusick Road and the newly constructed Regal Drive, which connects to Northpark Boulevard, will open to traffic on Thursday, Feb. 19. In addition, the section of Northpark Boulevard from the new Regal Drive to the existing Cusick Road will permanently close.

The new roundabout will allow drivers to go on to Regal Drive and connect to Northpark Boulevard, turn around on Cusick Road to go towards either Alcoa Highway and McGhee Tyson Airport or towards Pellissippi Parkway.
The roundabout is part of the continuing Alcoa Highway project. The $186 million project, which is the largest road project in state history, involves reconstructing and widening 13 miles of road across Knox and Blount counties. Currently, TDOT lists the end date for all seven phases as 2028…
