Trails closed in Los Peñasquitos Canyon due to storm
All trails in Los Peñasquitos Canyon Ranger District, including Los Peñasquitos Canyon, Del Mar Mesa, and Carmel Mountain Preserves, are closed because of heavy rain and high winds. The area is expecting nearly 1 inch of rain today, half an inch tomorrow, and a quarter inch on Wednesday. Flooding, debris, and possible bridge damage are expected, along with a high risk of falling trees.
Even after the storm ends, unsafe trail conditions may continue. Rangers will inspect the preserves and share updates as conditions change. Trails in higher areas, such as mesa top preserves, are also closed to protect the trails and nearby habitats. Please avoid all trails until further notice…
