5 arrested after shots fired at home with several children

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Five suspect have been arrested and another is being sought after gunfire was shot into a home with multiple children inside in Augusta, according to authorities.

The shooting happened on Friday around 4 a.m. on the 1100 block of D’Antignac Street, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies have arrested and charged five people in connection to the shooting:

  • Zatoria Griffin, 20, who is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal damage to property
  • Eric Merriweather Jr., 18, who is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a crime, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal damage to property
  • Julianna Rodriguez, 18, who is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal damage to property
  • Christian Williams, 18, who is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal damage to property
  • Zykeria Merriweather, 17, who is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal damage to property

Deputies also announced they are looking for Jaleel Gantt in connection to the shooting.

According to officials, Gantt is known to frequent the area of Barton Village.
