Hollywood Mourns the Loss of Legendary Actor Robert Duvall at 95

The entertainment world is reeling from the passing of acclaimed actor Robert Duvall, who died Monday at the age of 95. His wife, Luciana Pedraza Duvall, confirmed his peaceful passing at home, surrounded by loved ones, in a heartfelt post on his official Facebook page.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” Luciana wrote, “Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”

The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.

Following the news, a cascade of tributes poured in from Hollywood’s elite, including Adam Sandler, Alec Baldwin, and Jamie Lee Curtis, all remembering a titan of the screen.

Adam Sandler, who shared the screen with Duvall in the 2022 Netflix film “Hustle,” took to Instagram to honor his co-star. “Funny as hell.

Strong as hell. One of the greatest actors we ever had,” Sandler wrote alongside a slideshow of images, including one of the duo on set.

“Such a great man to talk to and laugh with. Loved him so much.

We all did. So many movies to choose from that were legendary.

Watch them when you can. Sending his wife Luciana and all his family and friends our condolences.”

Alec Baldwin shared a video tribute on his Instagram, highlighting Duvall’s vast and impactful career. “It’s so hard to talk about in a memorializing way, whatever word you want to use, in a tribute about someone with as vast a career as Robert Duvall,” Baldwin stated.

He specifically lauded Duvall’s silent yet shattering performance as Boo Radley in 1962’s “To Kill a Mockingbird,” a role he called “arresting.” Baldwin also cited iconic performances in “Apocalypse Now,” “Lonesome Dove,” “The Godfather,” and “Network,” among “scores and scores of movies and TV shows that he was great in.”

Recalling a personal encounter at a celebrity tennis match, Baldwin described Duvall as “irascible…very crusty, but he was a gentleman.” He continued, “What a great actor, I mean, up there with the greats…

The world lost a great, great actor… one of the greatest of all time, I guess.” Baldwin concluded his heartfelt message with, “Rest in peace to the great, great and irreplaceable Robert Duvall.”

Jamie Lee Curtis also paid homage to Duvall, sharing a still from the iconic 1972 film “The Godfather,” where he portrayed the unforgettable Tom Hagen. “The greatest consigliere the screen has ever seen,” Curtis captioned her Instagram post. “Bravo, Robert Duvall.”

Michael Keaton, who worked with Duvall in Ron Howard’s 1994 comedy-drama “The Paper,” posted a photo of the late actor, writing, “Another friend goes down. Acted with and became friends.

Shared a great afternoon on my front porch talking about horses. He was greatness personified as an actor.

RIP RD.”

Fellow Hollywood legend Al Pacino, who famously co-starred with Duvall in “The Godfather” and “The Godfather Part II,” offered a poignant statement. “It was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall,” Pacino remarked.

“He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.”

Robert Duvall leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable performances and an enduring impact on cinema that will be cherished by audiences and colleagues alike.
