ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford Public Schools mom and educator sees her son’s school bus as a superhero. The vehicle has whisked her child with special needs to a classroom for the last year.
“It’s been a lifesaver,” she attested of the Sunrise-operated bus. “They’ve actually made it to where he can be picked up at my job.”
Wishing to speak anonymously, the mom braces for change. The RPS 205 school board will consider sunsetting its contract with Sunrise Tuesday night. For years, the Downers Grove-based contractor has brought students with special needs, preschoolers and hundreds of others to school each day…
