Lockdown lifted at Nixa schools after weapon sighting near campus

NIXA, Mo. — A few schools in Nixa, Missouri, were placed on lockdown after a report of a person walking with a weapon on Monday, Feb. 16.

Nixa Public Schools tells Ozarks First the lockdown occured around 3 p.m. on Monday, after a 911 caller reported seeing a person traveling south on the sidewalk with a weapon on Gregg Road.

The district says Matthews Elementary and Espy Elementary were placed on lockdown after the warning, with Nixa High School going into secure mode for its after-school activities…
