WATCH LIVE: WWL’s coverage of Mardi Gras parades and festivities

NEW ORLEANS — It’s one of the biggest days of the year for Southeast Louisiana, and you can celebrate from the comfort of your house. WWL Louisiana’s special coverage kicks off at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m., covering the New Orleans krewes of Zulu, Rex and Elks-Orleans, as well as parades in Covington and Jefferson Parish.

Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club will kick off Fat Tuesday festivities starting near South Claiborne Avenue and Jackson Avenue at 8 a.m. Zulu is known for throwing hand-painted coconuts and its commitment to community service. This year, Sharell Monique Chatman serves as queen, ruling alongside her uncle, Zulu leader Dr. Ron Tassin.

The Krewe of Rex is next to roll on Mardi Gras Day, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Claiborne and Napoleon avenues.
