New numbers from Colorado State Patrol show which counties statewide are speeding the most

DENVER (KDVR) — Around the state, drivers are speeding at high rates on Colorado highways. According to the Colorado State Patrol, two of the top-five counties for speeding citations statewide are in the Denver metro, with both seeing more handed out in 2025 than the year prior.

CSP said speeding citation numbers actually took a small dip last year, going from more than 47,000 in 2024 to just over 44,000 in 2025. According to Trooper Gabriel Moltrer, from November 2024 to March 2025, CSP responded to nearly 12,000 crashes around the state.

“A lot of times, the top causal factor of these injuries and fatal winter crashes is speeding,” Moltrer said.

So who in Colorado was driving the fastest in 2025? CSP data shows the top county in the state for speeding charges by the highest speeding intervals was El Paso County, with 1,727. Jefferson and Adams Counties both cracked the top five with 873 and 755 citations, respectively. Those totals were both higher than their 2024 numbers…
