(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The community is invited to a public retirement party for K9 Roam, who medically retired from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) in January following a stabbing that resulted in the amputation of his left hind leg.
K9 Roam was severely injured in the line of duty on Oct. 15, 2025, when he was just 18 months old. According to CSPD, Roam responded alongside his handler that day to a reported domestic disturbance in the 7400 block of Gorgeted Quail Grove, south of Black Forest. The suspect, 37-year-old Army Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Bryant, was barricaded inside the residence when Roam arrived.

After Roam was deployed into the home, Bryant allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife, and Roam suffered injuries to his head, abdomen, and left hind leg. His leg had to be amputated to save his life.
