The Beaver Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution recently hosted its annual Youth Awards, honoring 20 area youth with awards for essay writing, good citizenship, community service and leadership.
The nonprofit service organization, which focuses on education, historic preservation and patriotism, held its annual ceremony Feb. 7 at the Beaverton Police Department.
Along with the awards, the evening included two award-winning guest speakers: Rebecca Clarren, who wrote “The Cost of Free Land: Jews, Lakota, and an American Inheritance,” and Anne Broyles, author of “I’m Gonna Paint: Ralph Fasanella, Artist of the People,” who offered thoughtful encouragement and inspiration to the awardees…
