Armed bandit strikes Foster-Powell convenience store

The activation of a silent holdup alarm at about 4:30 a.m. on January 14th alerted East Precinct officers to race to the Plaid Pantry store on S.E. 52nd Avenue, at the corner of Powell Boulevard.

The first-arriving officer spoke with the clerk involved, and radioed suspect information to other officers arriving to search the area.

“This was an armed robbery of a convenience store at gunpoint,” later confirmed PPB Public Information Officer Sergeant Kevin Allen to THE BEE. “The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, and was gone before police arrived – no immediate arrests were made. And, thankfully, there were no injuries.”…
