Troopers Launch Multi-Agency Search and Rescue Effort for Injured Skier in Turnagain Pass

Alaska State Troopers say a 43-year-old woman was injured while backcountry skiing on Mt. Fresno near Summit Lake on Monday afternoon, prompting a multi-agency rescue response in the Turnagain Pass area.

According to a trooper dispatch, Soldotna-based troopers received a Garmin InReach emergency activation at approximately 3:56 p.m. on February 16. The distress signal originated in the Summit Lake area and indicated that the skier had fallen and sustained injuries to her ankle and knee.
