Man charged in connection to four Portsmouth robberies

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man linked to four robberies was charged following a thorough investigation, according to Portsmouth Police.

On Jan. 12, officers responded to the 3000 block of Turnpike Road after a report of a robbery at approximately 2:35 p.m. When officers arrived, witnesses reported a man wearing all black and blue mask had entered the business.

Police said the suspect engaged in small talk with employees for several minutes before approaching the front register, brandishing a purple handgun and demanding cash from the safe. Employees compiled, and the suspect fled on foot with an estimated $1,000 to $1,500…
