Man indicted on felony murder charge in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — After months of investigation, Randall Vaught, 63, was indicted on murder charges after an assault in September, the Knoxville Police Department said.

Vaught faces charges including felony murder. KPD officers took him into custody Saturday night on the 1400 block of North Broadway.

This comes after Brian Overby, 60, died after an assault in September 2025, police said. Overby was found at the Broadway Shopping Center on September 7th with multiple injuries to his head and face. He was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment and remained hospitalized until dying in early October.
