(KRON) — A body that was recovered in the Santa Cruz Mountains last month was confirmed to be of an elderly woman who went missing in November 2025, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.
The body of 73-year-old Jeanne Burke was found in a densely wooded area of Smith Grade and Moore Ranch Road on January 18 amid continued search efforts for the missing woman. Burke was last seen alive on Nov. 18, 2025, near Moore Ranch Road.
“The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Ms. Burke’s family and friends during this tragic time,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “We are grateful to the many agencies that assisted in the search efforts, as well as to the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team for their persistence and dedication in locating Ms. Burke despite the challenges they faced.”…
