NORTH COUNTY — Thunder and lightning have hit North County starting in the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The National Weather Service has issued both a Wind Advisory and a Flood Watch for portions of southwest California through late tonight. Southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, are expected from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., potentially knocking down tree limbs, causing isolated power outages, and making travel difficult — especially for high-profile vehicles. At the same time, a Flood Watch is in effect for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties due to heavy showers and possible thunderstorms that could trigger flash flooding, street flooding, and dangerous conditions in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
