Driver found dead on shoulder of freeway in Alpine

ALPINE, Calif. — A male driver died Monday on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 8 in the Alpine area of the Cuyamaca Mountains of San Diego County.

The driver’s aunt notified the California Highway Patrol that he had parked her white Lexus SUV behind his silver Honda after she found him at 9:40 p.m. Monday on westbound I-8 just west of Victoria Drive. She said she had been looking for him.

Arriving officers reported that the male appeared to be unconscious, and they didn’t know if he was breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene…
