IKEA to open giant new store at north suburban mall

Popular Swedish furniture and home furnishings retailer IKEA will soon open a giant new store at a mall in a northern Chicago suburb, the company announced Tuesday.

According to the announcement, the store, set to be located at Gurnee Mills Mall, is one of at least four new IKEA stores set to open across the country in 2026. In Illinois, it will be IKEA’s third store, with others in Bolingbrook and Schaumburg.

The new store, at 6136 W. Grand Avenue in Gurnee, will cover approximately 66,000 square feet, the announcement said, with 3,000 immediate take-home items and approximately 600 small furniture pieces.
