A special education assistant in Chicago is facing criminal charges after allegedly placing an 8-year-old boy in a chokehold, dragging him and leaving him with serious injuries, authorities said.

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, Tamika Odeh, 44, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery to a child younger than 13 causing great bodily harm, ABC7 Chicago reports.

In a detention petition obtained by CWB Chicago, prosecutors alleged that on Nov. 13, 2025, Odeh placed the 8-year-old student in a chokehold and threw him to the ground while inside the school…
