SPRINGFIELD, MO – Fans of trendy home furnishings, affordable furniture, and Swedish meatballs will soon have another option in the region to get their fix.
IKEA has announced it is building a new store in Tulsa, the first in Oklahoma. The new location will be a quick 2.5-hour drive on I-44 from Springfield. That’s the same distance to the retailer’s Kansas City-area store in the suburb of Merriam, KS. IKEA also has a store in Saint Louis, about 3 hours away from Springfield.
However, customers wanting the full warehouse-sized IKEA experience will still have to drive to Merriam or Saint Louis. According to the City of Tulsa, the 51,000 square ft. store will fill a former Belk location and is set to open later this year.
