From St. Pete to Venice in many not-so-easy steps

VENICE — Roger Omenhiser has never lived in one place for more than four years, but he hopes that changes, thanks to his new job as Venice’s assistant city manager.

He started Feb. 9 and spent the rest of the week “drinking” out of the proverbial firehose, he said.

Omenhiser was born in St. Petersburg but, being a self-proclaimed Army brat and having a 24-year career in the Coast Guard, he has relocated on a regular basis, living in multiple states and West Germany “when there was a West Germany,” he said…
